A  Beautiful  Garden of Reverence & Solitude

The Columbarium and Prayer Garden at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church offers parishioners and their families a beautiful and peaceful setting for the perpetual care of the cremated remains of their loved ones. Nestled amongst landscaped gardens and calming fountains, between the Church and the Parish Office buildings, this is a beautiful place of reverence and solitude, and provides a prayerful environment for meditation and reflection. The word “columbarium” is derived from the Latin “columba”, meaning “dove”, a familiar symbol of God’s Spirit and His Peace. The “dovecote”, or nesting area, is made up of many niches where doves make their nests. Our Columbarium is an arrangement of 1,308 recessed niches housing urns containing the remains of those who have died in Christ.

The Prayer Garden is a secure area enclosed within iron gates. It contains several fountains, beautiful statuary, numerous shaded bench areas, and a Blessed Mother grotto, as well as a striking mosaic of the Divine Mercy.
